Representative LaMonica McIver is accused of assaulting ICE agents during a confrontation outside<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the center as she tried to intervene in the arrest of Mayor Ras Baraka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutors say McIver interfered with law enforcement,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
while her defense argues she was performing lawful congressional oversight and that ICE agents escalated tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Judge Jamel Semper has not ruled on a motion to dismiss but criticized the government\u2019s handling of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He condemned DHS social media posts as \u201cfact-free\u201d and objected to claims that McIver and others \u201cstormed the gate,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
