Raised in a non-religious household in Idaho, Akiane\u2019s spiritual insights surprised her family. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t just art that was happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simultaneous with art was a spiritual awakening,\u201d said her mother, Forelli Kramarik. Despite no religious influence, Akiane spoke often about God\u2019s love and guidance. \u201cIt comes from God,\u201d she told Oprah Winfrey when asked about her talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Finding Her Vision<\/strong><br>Initially attempting to write poetry to describe her visions, Akiane turned to painting instead. \u201cIt was too complex to describe through words so I painted.\u201d She recalled searching for a model of Jesus for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI suggested to my family to pray all day for this model,\u201d she said. Miraculously, a tall carpenter resembling her vision showed up seeking work. \u201cI told my mother that that was him,\u201d she remembered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Masterpiece Lost and Found<\/strong><br><em>Prince of Peace<\/em>\u00a0was nearly lost forever. Stolen en route to an exhibition, it was later returned, though covered in sawdust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI meticulously cleaned it,\u201d Akiane said. A legal mishap kept the painting out of public view for years, stored away in a dark stairwell.
