Inspired by TikTok videos, Scarlett froze a NeeDoh cube and then microwaved it briefly to soften it. When she took it out, it \u201cexploded all over her chest, mouth and chin,\u201d her father Josh said. The hot goo caused second and third-degree burns, leaving Scarlett with \u201cprofound\u201d scars and requiring a week-long hospital stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parents\u2019 Terrifying Experience<\/strong><br>Josh rushed to help after hearing Scarlett\u2019s \u201cblood-curdling scream.\u201d He tried wiping off the sticky substance but it was so thick it stuck to his hands and her clothes. \u201cI ripped her shirt off of her because it was stuck to her shirt as well,\u201d he said. Scarlett\u2019s mother Amanda recalled the drive to the hospital: \u201cShe was still screaming when we got to the hospital\u2026 It was terrible how scared she was and how much that hurt her.\u201d The family is urging others to throw away these toys to prevent similar accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Warnings and Concerns<\/strong><br>The toy manufacturer Schylling Toys posts a warning online: \u201cDo NOT heat, freeze, or microwave, may cause personal injury.\u201d Josh emphasized, \u201cThe product that\u2019s in it is like glue so you essentially have hot glue exploding on you.\u201d He criticized how the toy is marketed, saying, \u201cIf something can explode like that, it definitely shouldn\u2019t be frozen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Media Response<\/strong><br>TikTok and YouTube prohibit content showing dangerous behaviors. TikTok uses technology to detect spikes in risky trend videos, while YouTube bans videos of children doing harmful challenges.
