A North Carolina family is mourning the loss of 2-year-old Er\u2019mias Mitchell, who died after a routine dental procedure<\/p>\n\n\n\n
at Valleygate Dental Surgery Center in Greensboro. According to his parents, Er\u2019mias was a healthy, joyful child who<\/p>\n\n\n\n
brought his favorite T-Rex toy to the appointment. Shortly after anesthesia was administered, they were told he had suffered a collapsed lung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mitchells say they weren\u2019t allowed to ride in the ambulance and weren\u2019t immediately told he had been taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His father, David Mitchell\u2014a U.S. military member\u2014described the devastation of arriving at the hospital to find Er\u2019mias unresponsive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Er\u2019mias\u2019s grandmother, Kyra Smith, is calling for greater awareness and accountability to prevent similar tragedies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
