Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is facing criticism and possible legal consequences after calling former President Donald Trump a \u201crapist\u201d on X, linking him to the delay of the Epstein files release. \u201cWow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files,\u201d she posted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Critics quickly pointed out Trump was found liable for sexual abuse\u2014not rape\u2014in the E. Jean Carroll case. \u201cDonald Trump has not been criminally convicted of rape\u2026 This is defamation,\u201d one user wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Mike Lee said, \u201cEven under the ridiculously lenient standards of NY Times v. Sullivan, you\u2019ve managed to incur defamation liability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump supporters referenced ABC\u2019s $15 million settlement after George Stephanopoulos made similar claims. \u201cI hope you are sued by Trump for this,\u201d Laura Loomer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez has not publicly addressed the controversy.
