The FEC said the campaign failed to \u201caccurately report receipts and disbursements,\u201d accepted over-the-limit donations, and made illegal cash payments. Specifically, it took $19,000 in excessive donations and made four cash disbursements totaling $7,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign agreed to pay the fine and \u201csend its treasurer to a Commission-sponsored training program.\u201d Waters\u2019 attorney called the violations \u201cerrors\u201d that \u201cwere not willful or purposeful.\u201d The campaign said it hired legal counsel and updated procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
