That evening, her SUV was seen in Atwater, 65 miles away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surveillance later showed her changing Sandra\u2019s diaper in a parking lot\u2014the last confirmed sighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Family Grows Concerned<\/strong><br>Initially, no alarm was raised. \u201cShe sometimes stayed in Fresno for days,\u201d said her mother, Vickie Torres. But after three days of silence, her partner called Torres, prompting concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt just makes it really hard to shut my brain off and not constantly imagine what could\u2019ve happened,\u201d Torres told&nbsp;<em>The L.A. Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tragic Discovery<\/strong><br>Weeks later, volunteer divers found her SUV submerged in a canal. Whisper and Sandra were inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe was doing everything she could as a mother to try to save her daughter,\u201d the dive team shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Community Responds<\/strong><br>Authorities are investigating.
