Reese Manchaca, and Aidan Heartfield\u2014were also swept away. Reese was confirmed dead, while Ella and Aidan are still missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joyce\u2019s final moments were described as emotional. She was on the phone with a friend\u2019s father as the waters rose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group attempted to escape but was overtaken by the current. Her mother said she believes Joyce is now watching over them from above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same storm also struck Camp Mystic in Kerr County, where best friends Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8, lost their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
