Tom Homan, Trump\u2019s former Border Czar, claims Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
is under investigation for allegedly hiring an undocumented immigrant and advising others on how to avoid ICE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s being looked at, can\u2019t comment past that,\u201d Homan said, adding that educating people to evade arrest is \u201cknowingly hinder[ing] your removal,\u201d which he described as a crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He told commentator Benny Johnson, \u201cIt is not possible\u201d for a member of Congress to legally employ someone undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation may involve Diego de la Vega, a former staffer for Ocasio-Cortez, who revealed he had been undocumented while working in her office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Born in Ecuador, de la Vega came to the U.S. on a visitor visa at age 7 and overstayed. He moved to Colombia earlier this year after 23 years in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ocasio-Cortez pushed back, writing to the DOJ: \u201cOver the past two weeks, Tom Homan has gone on multiple forums threatening political prosecution against me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She called it a \u201ctextbook threat to the right to free speech.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Separately, Ocasio-Cortez was found to have violated House ethics rules for accepting over $3,700 in gifts related to her 2021 Met Gala appearance, including the \u201cTax the Rich\u201d dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her team delayed payments and tried to reduce costs, comparing the couture gown to cheaper rentals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
