In Belchertown, Massachusetts, a homeowner found a tiny, rain-soaked raccoon shivering on the doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Too young to survive alone, the animal\u2019s situation was critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quick Rescue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Animal Control Officer Sarah Byrnes responded, but no mother raccoon was found nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She wrapped the baby in a towel, placed him in a crate, and arranged transfer to the Leyden Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Care and Recovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the center, founder Amelie Dricut-Ziter and her team placed the raccoon in quarantine and began round-the-clock care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active and curious, the kit is expected to recover well. He will be fed a natural diet and taught survival skills until ready for release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
