Tropical Storm Humberto has intensified into a category 4 hurricane<\/strong>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n with forecasters warning of its destructive potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The storm, the eighth of the season, formed earlier this week and is now producing dangerous windswells across the Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FOX Weather\u2019s Bryan Norcross advised:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEveryone in the Bahamas and along the East Coast from Florida to the mid-Atlantic should plan to stay informed this weekend.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), a category 4 storm signals \u201ccatastrophic devastation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The NHC warns: \u201cMost trees will be snapped or uprooted and power poles downed\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Power outages will last weeks to possibly months. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n While Humberto is not expected to make landfall in the U.S.,<\/p>\n\n\n\n it is already creating hazardous rip currents and waves threatening the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and nearby islands.
