A peaceful Saturday morning on Edisto Beach turned chaotic when flames engulfed the home of South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and her husband, former state senator Arnold Goodstein. Around 11:30 a.m. on October 4, 2025, thick smoke rose over the marshfront<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in the Jeremy Cay neighborhood. Judge Goodstein was walking her dogs when the fire broke out, while Arnold was still inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion before the blaze spread rapidly. Arnold jumped from the burning home into the marsh, where neighbors and first<\/p>\n\n\n\n
responders rescued him. Two others were also saved, and several people were hospitalized \u2014 one airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
