If you find ticks inside your home

1. Why Ticks Are Dangerous

Ticks aren’t just annoying—they can carry serious diseases like Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Depending on your location, season, and whether you have pets, encounters with ticks can be fairly likely.

2. Identify and Isolate

If you find a tick, try to identify its type—black-legged,

dog, or brown dog tick—and keep children and pets away from the area until it’s removed.

3. Protective Measures

Wear gloves and long sleeves to prevent the tick from latching onto you.

Thoroughly wash any clothing or bedding the tick contacted,

using high heat, and vacuum the area, focusing on corners and crevices.

4. Safe Tick Removal

Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible.

Pull slowly upward without twisting or jerking to avoid leaving the tick’s head embedded,

ensuring a safe and complete removal.
