Hundreds of Students Line Up to Say Goodb

Hundreds of students gathered to honor 18-year-old cheerleader Kimber Mills, whose final act of kindness saved multiple lives.

Kimber was injured during a bonfire gathering near Pinson, Alabama, in what authorities called a “crossfire situation.”

A 27-year-old man, Steven Tyler Whitehead, whom no one at the event knew, was later arrested.

Kimber’s condition declined, and on October 21 she was placed on life support.

Her family chose to fulfill her wish to be an organ donor.

That day, classmates, friends, and teachers lined the hospital hallway for an honor walk as she was taken to the operating room.

Her sister said, “Her heart was donated to a  seven-year-old boy, and her lungs to a woman in New York.”

Classmate Marilu Valdez shared, “It broke my heart to know someone as bright as her… could have gone through that,” urging others to “Love like Kimber.”

The school district remembered her as a “bright, outgoing senior cheerleader.”
