Social Security benefits are going out on
Millions of Americans will receive Social Security benefits earlier than usual,
with some payments arriving on December 24, providing timely help as holiday expenses grow.
The early deposit benefits seniors, people with disabilities, and families who
depend on monthly checks to cover essentials, offering “some much-needed relief ahead of the holiday celebrations.”
The Social Security Administration sometimes adjusts payment dates when they fall near federal holidays.
This week, payments are being sent early because “a regular payment date falls close to a federal holiday,” helping recipients avoid delays tied to bank closures.
Those affected may include retirement beneficiaries, SSDI recipients, and SSI recipients whose normal payment date would fall on or just after Christmas.
Officials urge beneficiaries to “check their bank accounts, Direct Express cards, or online Social Security accounts” to confirm payment status.
While not everyone will receive funds on December 24, those who do will get “a bit earlier — a timely boost before Christmas Day.”
