Demonstrators Converge at the White

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the White House after

President Donald Trump announced U.S. airstrikes in Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

Demonstrators opposed what they saw as executive overreach and a dangerous precedent, stressing that rejecting the strikes did not mean supporting Maduro.

Many called for peace, restraint, and respect for international law.

Trump defended the action by labeling Maduro a “narco-terrorist” and claiming he and his wife were taken into federal custody,

framing the move as both law enforcement and a temporary governance effort.

Critics, including Senator Tim Kaine, warned that continued military action would require congressional approval under the War Powers Act.

International condemnation and fears of regional destabilization added to concerns, even as some Venezuelan Americans supported the operation as long-overdue accountability.
