Sources claim man killed in second ICE shoo.ting

Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old Minneapolis resident,

was identified as the man shot and killed by federal immigration agents during an

enforcement operation in south Minneapolis on 24 January 2026.

Authorities say agents from the Department of Homeland Security confronted Pretti after

he approached them while armed with a handgun.

DHS described the shooting as a defensive response,

though the circumstances remain under investigation.

Pretti lived in the Whittier neighborhood, worked as a registered nurse,

held an active nursing license, and was a lawful gun owner.

Police confirmed he was a U.S. citizen with no known serious criminal history.

Video from the scene appears to show a physical struggle moments before shots were fired.

The killing has intensified local debate over the conduct of federal immigration agents.

Protests have followed, with calls for transparency and an independent review.

The incident comes shortly after another ICE-related death in Minneapolis.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended that earlier shooting,

calling it “an act of domestic terrorism” and saying she was

“not opposed” to sending more federal agents to the city.
