Jake Paul bursts into tears as fiancée wins
Speed skater Jutta Leerdam won Olympic gold for the Netherlands on 9 February, setting a new record in the women’s 1,000 metres as fiancé Jake Paul watched from the stands.
Leerdam finished in 1:12.31, breaking the Olympic mark and claiming the top podium spot. Cameras showed Paul in tears,
celebrating her victory. Dutch teammate Femke Kok took silver in 1:12.59, while Japan’s Miho Takagi earned bronze with 1:13.95.
Kok had briefly set an Olympic record earlier in the event, increasing pressure on Leerdam. She responded with a flawless skate to
reclaim the record minutes later. After crossing the line, Leerdam wiped away tears, blew Paul a kiss, and formed a heart with her hands.
A previous silver medalist at Beijing 2022, Leerdam entered the race as a favorite, backed by a European title and multiple World Cup medals this season.
On the sport’s biggest stage, she delivered a record-breaking performance.
