What began as a game at Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket ended in tragedy on February 16, 2026.
Gunfire erupted just before 3 p.m., causing panic. Authorities confirmed three people, including a child, were killed and others critically injured.
Police Response and Early Findings
Police Chief Tina Goncalves said the suspect died from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound,” and officers were not involved.
Investigators believe the attack may have been targeted and linked to a family dispute.

The suspect, Robert Dorgan, reportedly also known as Roberta Esposito, had prior family-related legal issues, some later dismissed.

Mayor Don Grebien called the day heartbreaking. The Coventry School District confirmed its students were safely transported home as the community united in grief.
