Devastating Floods in Texas

Texas faces a tragic disaster as violent flash floods sweep through, causing destruction and loss of life. More than 100 people have died, with many still missing. Rescue teams work tirelessly amid dangerous conditions, searching for survivors.

A Father’s Final Moments

One heartbreaking story is of John Burges from Liberty, Texas, who clung to a tree holding his two sons as floodwaters swept them away.

Lorena Guillen, an RV park owner who witnessed the event, said, “The man was holding tight to his babies, and he just got swept away.” John and his family remain missing.

Camp Mystic Tragedy

At Camp Mystic, a girls’ summer camp by the Guadalupe River, 27 children and staff died, and 11 are missing. The camp mourns, saying, “Our hearts are broken alongside our families that are enduring this unimaginable tragedy.”

Camp director Richard Eastland died while guiding children to safety; his grandson wrote, “If he wasn’t going to die of natural causes, this was the only other way — saving the girls that he so loved and cared for.”
