A serious multi-vehicle accident caused major disruption Wednesday on the Mexico–Querétaro Highway near

Huehuetoca in the State of Mexico after a trailer reportedly lost control and crashed into several vehicles during rainy conditions.

The collision happened around kilometer 59 near the Jorobas intersection while the trailer was traveling toward Mexico City.

According to preliminary reports, the truck driver was unable to brake in time before striking a retaining bank and colliding with at least five cars and a pickup truck.

The impact caused the trailer to jackknife across the roadway, blocking all three northbound-to-southbound lanes and forcing a partial highway closure.

Authorities believe the wet pavement from ongoing rain may have contributed to the crash, though investigators are still working to determine the exact cause.

Traffic quickly backed up for miles as emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to remove damaged vehicles and clear debris from the highway.

Paramedics treated several people for minor injuries at the scene.

Although officials stated that no life-threatening injuries were immediately reported, some victims were advised to seek additional hospital evaluation as a precaution against possible delayed complications.

The accident also renewed concerns about dangerous driving conditions during heavy rain, especially on high-speed highways frequently used by commercial trucks.

Officials reminded drivers to reduce speed, maintain safe following distances, and exercise extra caution during wet weather to help prevent similar incidents.
