Rosie O’Donnell Reconnects with Daughter Chelsea Amid Past Struggles
Rosie O’Donnell shared a touching FaceTime moment with her daughter Chelsea O’Donnell and grandson Atlas on Instagram, writing, “chelsea atlas and me #welldone.”
The photo showed Chelsea smiling beside her son, while Rosie appeared in the corner of the screen.
Fans quickly responded with encouragement, saying, “I’m so happy for y’all! Beautiful family!” and “Chelsea looking great!”
This moment of connection came months after Chelsea, 27, faced legal troubles. She was arrested three times in the fall and later pleaded guilty to meth possession, bail violations, and resisting arrest.
She received three two-year probation terms and entered a rehab program. Rosie gave an update on her daughter’s recovery, stating, “Chelsea is currently in a drug rehabilitation program and doing quite well. I am very proud of her progress.”
Family Tensions and Legal Fallout
Despite showing support now, Rosie previously removed Chelsea from her $80 million will amid the legal troubles. Chelsea, who was adopted, responded by changing her last name to Neuens, taking her biological mother’s surname.
Rosie’s Fresh Start Abroad
Around the same time, Rosie moved to Ireland. Concerned for her autistic son Clay’s safety, she explained, “I’ve never had one moment where I have regretted moving here.
” On Instagram, she added, “People [in Ireland] r lovely, full of empathy and compassion… I feel it helped me in every way possible [sic].”
