Pelosi Claims Democrats Will Retake House,
Pelosi’s Confidence in 2026 Midterms
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed strong confidence that Democrats will regain control of the House in the 2026 midterm elections.
Speaking at the Voters of Tomorrow summit, she said, “We have no doubt that we will win the election with the House of Representatives,” adding “No doubt” in response to applause.
Leadership and Strategy
Pelosi predicted House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries would become Speaker if Democrats win. She stressed the importance of early preparation, comparing the upcoming campaign to successful efforts in 2006 and 2018.
“It’s important to be strong in the year in advance, because that’s when the troops line up,” she said, emphasizing the need for “messaging, mobilization, [and] money.”
Focus on Trump’s Approval
Pelosi identified lowering former President Trump’s approval ratings as a key goal. She stated, “By October — certainly by November, but by October, we will have… taken what’s his name’s numbers down,” without directly naming him.
Democratic Engagement
The summit featured prominent Democrats like Kamala Harris and Jamie Raskin, with Pelosi remaining active in party events despite stepping down from leadership after 2022.
