DOJ Arrests Spike as Attacks on Federal Agents Rise

The Department of Justice has made several arrests amid a record rise in assaults on ICE and federal officers.

Arrest in Los Angeles
Gregory K. Bovino announced the arrest of a U.S. citizen accused of spitting on Border Patrol agents during an ICE operation in L.A. The suspect wore an anti-ICE shirt.

Bovino stated, “California may coddle criminals, but we don’t. If you assault a federal agent, you earn federal consequences.”

Portland Riot Suspect Charged
In Oregon, Robert Jacob Hoopes, 24, was charged for throwing rocks at ICE agents during a June riot, injuring one. “Depredation of federal property exceeding $1,000” was among the charges.

Los Angeles Riot Suspect Caught
Elpidio Reyna, wanted for hurling concrete blocks at federal vehicles during L.A. riots, was captured at the U.S.-Mexico border after fleeing to Sinaloa.

“He fled to Mexico,” said the FBI, confirming his arrest.
