The Heartbreaking And Uplifting Story

Judged by Appearances
Society still often judges people by looks. “The outside look is the first impression for all of us.” Jono Lancaster, born in 1985 with Treacher Collins syndrome, experienced this firsthand.
Abandoned at Birth
Doctors warned Jono’s parents he might never walk or talk. “When I was born, my parents were in total shock… I was out of the hospital 36 hours after I was born,” Jono shared at the 2015 Nord Conference. His parents left him, but a foster carer named Jean stepped in, asking, “When can I take him home?”
Growing Up Different
Though raised with love, school was hard. Classmates avoided him. “I felt like I was on my own… Why did I have to end up looking like this?” Jono said.

A New Family
After years of rejection, Jean adopted him in 1990. “This lady adopted me… This lady is an angel, sent to me when I needed one the most,” Jono wrote on Facebook.
