Feds Probe AOC For Employing Illegal Alien,
Federal Investigation Launched
Border Czar Tom Homan announced a federal probe into Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) for allegedly employing an undocumented immigrant and helping others avoid ICE. Homan said, “It’s being looked at (AOC employing illegal alien), can’t comment past that,” and added the agency was told to “drill in on that case.” He warned that aiding evasion of ICE arrests “is a crime.”
Undocumented Staff and Political Background
Diego de la Vega, the immigrant in question, was AOC’s Deputy Communications Director in 2022. Despite his undocumented status, he worked previously in politics. AOC praised him: “Diego is amazing.” De la Vega left the U.S. in March amid deportation fears.
AOC’s Response and Legal Defense
AOC denied wrongdoing and called the investigation “politically motivated.” She said, “I was once again fully using the First Amendment to inform people of their constitutional rights.” She warned that detaining an elected official “without any actual grounds” would mark “a tremendous sea change” in democracy.

Earlier, AOC hosted a webinar advising undocumented immigrants on how to deal with ICE, including not opening doors without a judge’s warrant. Her office also offered free legal help and privacy forms to assist with deportation cases.
