Toddler in Critical Condition After Over 150 Yellow Jacket Stings
A 2-year-old Georgia boy, Beckham Reed, is in critical condition after being stung more than 150 times by yellow jackets while playing in an electric toy car. The attack caused his body to go into multi-organ failure.
Initially treated and sent home, Beckham’s condition worsened within a day. “His skin began to turn yellow,” prompting his parents to rush him back to the hospital. Doctors later found his kidney, liver, and heart were all affected. Born with only one kidney, Beckham was especially vulnerable to the venom.
He was moved to the ICU, placed on a ventilator, and put on dialysis. “There is no antivenom for yellow jackets,” his family explained. “All doctors can do is support his body while it works through the toxins.”
Despite the severity, there’s hope. “Beckham is waking up more… He is STRONG… and he’s fighting to get better,” the family said.
