‘General Hospital’ Star, Passed Away At Age 79
Tristan Rogers Dies at 79
Australian actor Tristan Rogers, best known as Robert Scorpio on General Hospital, has died at 79. His longtime manager, Meryl Soodak, confirmed his passing on Aug. 15.
Career on General Hospital
Rogers joined the soap in 1980 and quickly became a fan favorite. In July, it was revealed he had lung cancer despite never smoking. Soodak said portraying Robert Scorpio “meant everything” to him.

Defining Role
“He loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing,” Soodak said, noting he was hired for a single day but turned it into a decades-long career. She remembered him as “a genuinely loyal, kind human being.”
Beyond the Soap
Outside General Hospital, Rogers acted in films like Delirious and Night Eyes 3, appeared in series such as The Young and the Restless, and voiced characters in animated shows and video games, including Mortal Kombat.
