Measles Exposure at O’Hare Airport
Health officials warn of possible measles exposure at Chicago O’Hare International Airport after “an infected adult, contagious at the time, spent two full days in Terminal 1.”

The person was there on April 22 and 23 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., potentially exposing hundreds of travelers.

Risk and Contagion
Measles is highly contagious and “can linger in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the area.”

Anyone in Terminal 1 during those times may be at risk.

New Cases and Response
By April 25, the first traveler “developed the signature measles rash and has since been isolating at home.”

A second case was confirmed days later in the same county. Medical staff “acted quickly, isolating the patient upon arrival” to limit spread.

Precautions and Advice
Officials urge people who were at O’Hare during the exposure to “check their vaccination records” and contact a healthcare provider if unvaccinated or unsure.

Measles can cause serious complications, especially for vulnerable groups.
