Sh0ck moment Boeing plane engine bursts into flames
Mid-Air Scare on Condor Flight
A Condor Boeing 757 departing Corfu for Düsseldorf experienced a serious engine issue just 40 minutes after takeoff on August 16, forcing an emergency landing in Brindisi, Italy. Passengers saw “flames sputtering from the engine” and heard “loud booms,” sparking panic.
Passengers in Fear
One passenger told Bild, “The aircraft suddenly lost power for a few seconds and stopped climbing.” Another said they believed “it was the end,” sending goodbye messages to family.
Airline Response
Condor stated the engine “did not catch fire” but had “a reaction at the back” causing abnormal readings. Pilots diverted to Brindisi as a precaution, and the airline stressed that “passengers and crew were never in actual danger.”
Aftermath
Travelers were stranded overnight, with some lacking hotel rooms. Condor apologized and promised reimbursement for extra costs. The plane is under technical inspection.
