Tragic Ocean Attack
In New South Wales, Australia, 63-year-old Christine Armstrong, a devoted Tathra Surf Club member, was fatally attacked by a massive shark during her routine swim.
She had told friends she wasn’t feeling well and turned back early, but never reached shore.
Discovery
The next day, only her goggles, swim cap, and partial remains were found.
Authorities said the shark, likely a great white at least 13 feet long, “was such a size and it’s consumed her basically completely, she wouldn’t have even known it happened,” said her husband, Rob Armstrong.
Tribute
The Surf Club honored her: “She was an experienced and committed member.
Swimming brought her much joy and many friends.”
Legacy
Though the attack occurred in 2014, a viral YouTube video has brought her story back online, reminding the world of the sea’s beauty and danger.
