Over 100 human remains found in Nevada desert
Disturbing Discovery
On July 28, a passerby near Searchlight, Nevada, found dozens of strange piles of what looked like ashes.
Scattered nearby were “zip ties and what appeared to be part of an urn.”
Authorities later confirmed the ashes were human “cremains.”
Unsettling Details
Despite weeks of wind and sun, the piles appeared neatly arranged.
Images showed “rows of separated ash mounds” untouched by the desert elements.
No personal items or identifiers were found.

Investigation Underway
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Las Vegas police are investigating.
While scattering ashes isn’t illegal, Nevada law makes it a crime to “fail to dignify the dead.”
Officials stress the issue may involve how the remains were handled.
Lingering Questions
The BLM noted in a 2011 memo:
“The quantity of material associated with commercial distribution of cremated remains could preclude other land uses.”
Investigators still don’t know who left the ashes—or why.
