Cheerleader’s surprising act a week after
Arrest and Charges
University of Kentucky student and former STUNT cheerleader Laken Snelling, 21,
was arrested after police found a dead infant “wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag” in her off-
campus apartment closet. She admitted to giving birth and “cleaning up the evidence.”
Legal Proceedings
Snelling faces charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence,
and concealing the birth of an infant, which she has pled not guilty to.
She was released on a $100,000 bond and ordered to live with her parents until her September 26 court date.
Investigation
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death inconclusive, pending “extensive microcosmic analyses.”
Coroner Gary Ginn stated: “We are conducting a thorough and methodical death investigation to ensure all facts are carefully considered.”

Other Details
Snelling has withdrawn from the university. A DNA test is underway to confirm paternity, with ex-boyfriend Izaiah Hall believed to be the father.
