Olympic legend Mary Lou Retton, a West Virginia native and 1984 gold medalist, is in the ICU battling pneumonia.

Family’s Appeal

Her daughter, McKenna Kelley, revealed that Retton has been unable to breathe on her own for more than a week.

She also shared: “Please consider helping our family out, and most importantly, please continue to pray.”

Kelley added that her mother does not have insurance and set up a spotfund for support.

A Historic Career

Retton became the first American gymnast to win the Olympic all-around gold in 1984,

earning two perfect 10s, plus two silver and two bronze medals.
