Italy is mourning 15-year-old figure skater Matilda Ferrari,
who died after being hit by a cement truck in Giustino, Trentino, while crossing the road to catch her school bus.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but she died at the scene.

Mayor Manuel Cosi called it “a terrible tragedy that leaves us speechless.
You can’t go to school in the morning and die like this.”

Matilda, a member of Sporting Ghiaccio Art Pinzolo, trained almost daily.
After overcoming a knee injury, she placed third at the Italian Cup final in 2024, marking her as one of Italy’s most promising young skaters.
