Community in Mourning

The Uvalde community is grieving the loss of Regina Santos-Aviles, 35, a congressional staffer for Rep. Tony Gonzales.

She was found seriously injured outside her home, taken to a San Antonio hospital, and later died.

Career of Service

Santos-Aviles had served as Gonzales’ regional district director since 2021, helping communities secure resources and development opportunities.

Rep. Gonzales said she “devoted her profession toward making a difference” and will be remembered for her dedication.

Investigation Underway

Police Chief Homer E. Delgado confirmed there is “no indication of foul play at this time,” but stressed all unexplained deaths are investigated.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner is reviewing the case, with results pending.

Personal Legacy

Friends and colleagues remember her as a devoted mother and kind friend whose warmth brightened every room.

Her legacy of compassion continues to inspire those who knew her.
