Michael Douglas Steps Back
After nearly 60 years in Hollywood, Michael Douglas, 80,
has announced he “had to stop” acting, saying he doesn’t want to “drop dead on the set.”
A Legendary Career
Douglas won his first Oscar in 1976 as producer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and later won another for Wall Street.
He became a star of thrillers like Fatal Attraction and more recently appeared in Marvel’s Ant-Man franchise.
Life Beyond Acting
Speaking at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Douglas said: “I have not worked since 2022, purposefully.
I’m very happy with taking the time off… But I say I’m not retired, because if something special came up, I’d go back.”
He now enjoys watching his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, continue her career.

Challenges and Legacy
Reflecting on his stage IV cancer battle, he admitted, “Stage 4 cancer is not a holiday.”
Still, Douglas is set to appear in one more film, Looking Through Water, alongside his son Cameron.
