On Tuesday, August 5th, a tragic rollover accident in Ipameri, Goiás,
claimed the life of 9-year-old Celina Victoria Frões Muniz Goes.
The crash occurred on a rural road about 35 km from the main highway in the Mata do Calixto region.
Authorities and Community Response
Police Chief Diogo Ferreira told g1 that the van belonged to “an independent rural school transportation provider.”
The Ipameri City Hall declared three days of mourning,
while Nossa Senhora de Fátima Municipal School suspended classes to honor Celina.
Teachers and the education secretary attended her wake and burial in Caldas Novas.
Accident Details
According to Fire Department Major Rodrigo André, “there were five children and the driver in the van.”
Celina’s brother suffered a foot bruise,
while the driver had a minor back injury and “decided not to seek medical attention.”
