Trump Announces Destruction of Drug Submarine
President Donald Trump said Saturday that a U.S. military strike in the Caribbean destroyed a “very large drug-carrying submarine,”
killing two suspected narco-terrorists and capturing two others.
He claimed the vessel carried “fentanyl and other narcotics” toward the U.S.,
preventing up to 25,000 overdose deaths.
“No U.S. Forces were harmed in this strike,” Trump stated.
Operation Details
Fox News confirmed two survivors were rescued by the U.S. Navy.
The incident marks the sixth U.S. interdiction of a drug-smuggling vessel since operations began last month,
though the Pentagon has not named the mission.
Trump first mentioned the strike during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying,
“We attacked a submarine… built specifically for the transportation of massive amounts of drugs.”
Political Response
Lawmakers renewed calls for harsher penalties. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted,
“300 Americans are murdered each day by fentanyl,” while Rep. Paul Gosar said traffickers should “pay a heavy price.”
