If Obama and
Obama vs. Trump 2028? Poll Reveals Who Would Win
A new poll imagines the ultimate political showdown — Barack Obama vs. Donald Trump in the 2028 election.
Though the 22nd Amendment bars both from serving again, Trump has repeatedly hinted at testing the limit.
“I’d love that. That would be a good one,” Trump said when asked about facing Obama.
He added, “No people are asking me to run… they do say there’s a way you can do it.”
In the Daily Mail/J.L. Partners poll of 1,013 voters, 52% chose Obama, while 41% backed Trump.

Obama led among Hispanic (73%) and Black voters (68%), making him the only recent Democrat to beat Trump in hypothetical matchups.
While an Obama–Trump rematch remains impossible under current law,
the poll underscores how both men still dominate U.S. politics.
As one commentator put it, this is “the race that never was — but everyone wants to see.”
