Melania Trump sends a message to Saudi
During a formal White House dinner, Melania Trump drew global attention with a symbolic fashion
choice as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Washington, D.C.
The event brought top figures together, but despite the star-studded guest list,
“it was Trump’s wife Melania who caught the attention through the symbolism of her outfit.”
She wore a cadmium green gown — a “very specific – very Saudi – shade of green” — reflecting the color of Saudi Arabia’s flag.
The dress, designed by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, further linked the look to the region;
Saab recently held a major fashion show in Riyadh connected to the Crown Prince’s Vision 2030 cultural initiative.
Melania typically appears in “understated fashion,” but the importance of the state visit made her wardrobe choice stand out.
Whether the gesture was formally acknowledged or not, it “certainly caught a few eyes around the world.”
