A Happy Meal and a Heart Ful
After a long day, I stopped at McDonald’s and noticed a woman and her young daughter enter.
Their clothes were worn, but the girl’s excitement stood out as she stared at the menu.
When they ordered “just the cheeseburger and small fries,” the girl quietly asked, “Mommy, can I get the toy?”
Her mother replied, “Maybe next time, sweetie. Let’s just get the food today.”
Seeing the girl’s disappointment, I returned to the counter and asked the cashier to add a Happy Meal to their order anonymously.
When their food arrived, the girl’s face lit up. “Mommy, look! They gave me a toy!” she exclaimed.
The mother looked around in confusion but smiled, relieved.
Watching their joy eased the weight of my day.
It was a small act, but it reminded me how simple kindness — even a surprise Happy Meal — can make a real difference.
