BREAKING: Democrat Senator Tragically
Colorado State Sen. Faith Winter died Wednesday night in a five-car crash in Centennial, officials confirmed.
She was the only fatality, though three others were injured.
Colorado Senate leaders said, “We are devastated to learn of the passing of our colleague and friend, Senator Faith Winter.”
The crash happened on Interstate 25 near E Dry Creek Rd, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
Deputy John Bartmann noted, “The cause is going to take some time to figure out.”
Photos showed an overturned truck and several damaged vehicles before the highway reopened later that night.
Winter, 45, served in the Colorado Legislature for over a decade and was assistant Senate majority leader.
She was known for her work on transportation, environmental issues, and community advocacy.
Gov. Jared Polis said, “Our state is shaken by the loss of Senator Faith Winter.”
A vacancy committee will fill her remaining term.
