In past years, her emails sent donations directly to genuine charities.
That history built trust. This year, the same style of message appears to have repurposed that trust into campaign cash.
Whether this crosses legal lines is for the FEC to decide, but the ethical breach is obvious.
When a Thanksgiving charity appeal doubles as a fundraising trap, it poisons the well for every honest nonprofit trying to do real good.
The fix is simple and urgent: donors should bypass political middlemen and give straight to reputable organizations,
while regulators dig hard into any politician who turns holiday generosity into just another shakedown.
