If you notice small red dots on your skin,

Red dots on the skin can be worrying because

“skin changes are easy to notice and hard to ignore,” but they are often harmless.

Many appear due to everyday factors like aging, heat, friction,

or mild irritation, which are “part of normal bodily responses.”

One common cause is petechiae, described as “tiny,

flat red or purple spots caused by small blood vessels breaking under pressure.”

They can show up after coughing, heavy exercise, or sneezing and usually fade on their own.

Another frequent cause is cherry angiomas—“small, bright red bumps” that are painless, common with age, and benign.

Other triggers include heat rash or allergies, which often clear once the cause is removed.

Red dots should be checked if they spread, bleed, or appear with other symptoms.

Most often, they are “harmless signals rather than warnings.”
