At 74, Jay Leno planning for death, leaves
Jay Leno, 74, is planning his future while gradually stepping back from public life. After leaving late-night TV,
he hosted the web series Jay Leno’s Garage (2015–2022), sharing his love of cars with millions of fans.
In November 2022, Leno suffered serious burns in a garage fire, followed by multiple fractures in a motorcycle accident two months later.
Despite these setbacks, his focus remains on his wife, Mavis Leno, whom he married in 1980. Now 77, she is battling dementia,
and in 2024 a Los Angeles court granted him conservatorship, noting she has “gradually lost awareness of time, space, and even her husband.”
Leno is arranging his estate to ensure her care. His assets, including his $52 million vehicle collection,
will go into the Leno Marital Trust. After both pass, the remainder will benefit the JDM Foundation, which plans to create an auto museum.
His plans reflect devotion to family and a lasting commitment to philanthropy.
