A Divine Gift Revealed
At just 8 years old, Akiane Kramarik painted Prince of Peace, a striking portrait of Jesus, inspired by recurring visions. Raised in a non-religious household in Idaho, Akiane’s spiritual insights surprised her family. “It wasn’t just art that was happening.
Simultaneous with art was a spiritual awakening,” said her mother, Forelli Kramarik. Despite no religious influence, Akiane spoke often about God’s love and guidance. “It comes from God,” she told Oprah Winfrey when asked about her talent.
Finding Her Vision
Initially attempting to write poetry to describe her visions, Akiane turned to painting instead. “It was too complex to describe through words so I painted.” She recalled searching for a model of Jesus for years.
“I suggested to my family to pray all day for this model,” she said. Miraculously, a tall carpenter resembling her vision showed up seeking work. “I told my mother that that was him,” she remembered.
A Masterpiece Lost and Found
Prince of Peace was nearly lost forever. Stolen en route to an exhibition, it was later returned, though covered in sawdust.
“I meticulously cleaned it,” Akiane said. A legal mishap kept the painting out of public view for years, stored away in a dark stairwell. Despite efforts to reclaim it, she lost the legal battle after selling it to a private collector.
