Elvis Presley’s Jet: A Stylish Symbol of the King
Elvis Presley wasn’t just a music icon—his flair extended to food, fashion, and even aircraft. In 1962, he purchased a Lockheed Jetstar and customized it to reflect his personal taste.
The private jet’s interior boasted “crimson velvet chairs,” “hardwood panels,” and a lounge-like setup that perfectly matched the King’s luxurious style.
A Plane Fit for Royalty
The plane’s interior remains a time capsule of Elvis’s unique flair. “The walls are paneled in wood, while the seats are upholstered in plush crimson velvet,” and there’s a vintage “high tech” TV. Though modest in size, the cabin includes a comfortable seating area and a compact kitchen.
As one writer imagined, “Picture Elvis getting up from his chair, heading into the kitchen, and spreading a legendary Elvis sandwich… before popping it into the microwave.”
Post-Elvis Life
After Elvis’s death in 1977, the jet sat unused for decades in Roswell, New Mexico, serving as a roadside attraction. Despite its age, the plane has held up well. “If you look closely, you’ll notice that the plane’s exterior is painted a muted red,” and the condition remains surprisingly good.
