Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled Passes After 20 Years in Coma
Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal has died at age 36 after spending nearly two decades in a coma. He was critically injured in a car accident in London in 2005 while still a teenager. The crash caused severe brain damage and internal bleeding, and despite urgent medical care, he never regained consciousness.

Known as the ‘Sleeping Prince’
Following the accident, Prince Al-Waleed was kept alive on life support at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Saudi Arabia. Over the years, he became known as the “Sleeping Prince.” In 2019, he briefly raised a finger and slightly moved his head, but according to Roya News, “these moments did not indicate a return to full consciousness.”

Family and Public Mourning
His death was confirmed by his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, in a heartfelt message: “With hearts believing in Allah will and decree, and with deep sorrow and sadness, we mourn our beloved son… may Allah have mercy on him.” News of the prince’s passing led to an outpouring of condolences across social media.

Tributes and Funeral Plans
The Global Imams Council expressed sympathy, stating: “The Global Imams Council extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy… on the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Al-Waleed.”

Others wrote messages such as, “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” and “Your time on earth was a blessing to your family and the world in general.” Funeral prayers are expected to be held at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
