Father of 9-Year-Old Melina Frattolin Charged
Father Charged with Murder After Daughter Found Dead in NY Pond
Luciano Frattolin, 45, has been charged with second-degree murder and concealment of a corpse after his 9-year-old daughter, Melina Frattolin, was found dead in a Ticonderoga pond on July 20. “Sometime after Melina’s phone call with her mother and before Mr. Frattolin’s 911 call, he allegedly murdered Melina,” said Troop G Captain Robert McConnell.

Frattolin had reported Melina missing near Lake George on July 19, claiming she was abducted. An AMBER Alert followed, but police found “inconsistencies” in his story. Surveillance showed Melina was healthy earlier that evening and had called her mother, saying they were heading home.
An autopsy listed her cause of death as drowning and the manner as homicide. “The PBA of New York State is extremely saddened to learn of the death of Melina Galanis Frattolin,” said PBA President James McCartney. Frattolin remains in custody and has pleaded not guilty. His hearing is set for July 25.
